How long can you leave Aquacel dressing on?
AQUACEL Surgical is designed to stay in place for up to 14 days or more, subject to clinical assessment.
How often should Aquacel dressing be changed?
Use Aquacel Ag ribbon for cavity wounds. Dressing change. Every 5 to 7 days, unless exudate strikethrough occurs earlier.
Are you supposed to wet Aquacel?
If the wound bed is relatively dry, it is recommended that AQUACEL® Ag Dressing is placed in the wound and then moistened with sterile saline over the wound area only. The vertical absorption of the dressing will help to maintain the moist area over the wound only and reduce the risk of periwound maceration.
How do I use Aquacel?
Ensure the skin around the wound edge is clean and dry. Apply AQUACEL® Ag+ dressing directly to the wound. Ensure the dressing overlaps the wound edges by at least 1cm, cut if needed. Cleanse your wound with clean water or specific wound cleansing product if advised by your healthcare professional.
When should I stop using Aquacel?
All wounds should be inspected frequently. Remove the Aquacel Ag when clinically indicated (i.e., leakage, excessive bleeding, increased pain) or after a maximum of seven days.
Can you cut Aquacel dressings?
To protect the peri-wound skin from maceration and to improve the adhesion of the dressing or tape. Dressing may be cut but should overlap by 1 cm onto the peri- wound skin. Apply dry Aquacel Ag+ Extra sheet directly on the wound bed. If using multiple sheets, ensure overlapping by at least 1 cm on all sheet edges.
Is Aquacel a dry dressing?
Aquacel Ag® (ConvaTec, Princeton, NJ, USA) is a new hydrofiber wound dressing consisting of soft non-woven sodium carboxymethylcellulose fibers integrated with ionic silver. It is a moisture-retention dressing, which forms a gel on contact with wound fluid and has antimicrobial properties of ionic silver.
Does Aquacel remove Slough?
How does AQUACEL Ag+ Extra dressing work? Excess exudate and exposed microorganisms, biofilm, slough and necrotic tissue is lifted into the AQUACEL Ag+ Extra dressing through the absorptive gelling and locking-in mechanism of Hydrofiber Technology*1–5,31.
How often should honey dressings be changed?
Dressings are usually changed once a day, but with heavily exuding or infected wounds they may initially need to be changed up to three times a day. The anti-inflammatory and antibacterial action of honey will reduce the amount of exudate, so within a few days the dressings should need to be changed less frequently.
How do you apply Aquacel dressing to a wound?
1. Aquacel AG should overlap 1 cm onto the intact skin surrounding the wound since it will shrink as it absorbs wound fluid and then cover with a sterile secondary dressing. 2. On lightly exuding wounds it is possible to apply the dressing then lightly moisten the area directly over the wound with Normal Saline.
When should you stop packing a wound?
You may remove the bandage and shower as usual after the first 24 hours, but do not soak the area in water (no swimming or tub baths) until after you follow up with your doctor. Follow Up: Most skin wounds heal within ten days. However, even with proper treatment, a wound infection may occur.
